Member for North Sydney, Trent Zimmerman, has today helped open the new playground for the Giant Steps School in Gladesville.

Partially funded by a $75,000 grant from the Turnbull Government’s Capital Grants Program the new playground will provide significantly improved facilities for the 80 students who attend the school.

Mr Zimmerman welcomed the new playground and spoke of the importance of Giant Steps to the community.

“Giant Steps has for many years provided specialist educational support to young people between the ages of 2 and 26 who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and it is wonderful to see this new facility that will provide so much joy to the students.”

“The team of staff and parents, ably led by Kerrie Nelson, play an enormous role in making Giant Steps the wonderful facility it is. I am in awe of the work being done to provide these children with the greatest possible start in life.”

“The success of Giant Steps can be seen on the faces of the students I had the pleasure to meet. I want to thank and congratulate every person who has been involved in building this new playground, from the team that worked long and hard over the summer to see it completed right through to the generous donors who have made the facility possible.
